Where Are Your Kids - Children GPS Tracking
Those of you with kids know that keeping track of where they are can be a huge job, especially as they get older. If you want to lessen the stress and make your life more peaceful why not consider using GPS tracking of your children.
GPS is Global Positioning Systems and it is one of the greatest technological advances for keeping children safe. In this day and age a GPS tracking system for your kids can mean the difference between stress and peace in your life.
GPS these days is extremely reliable and accurate. And it is so small that it can be placed in so many different objects ranging from watches to backpacks. This gives you the ability to know where your children are at all times of the day (and night if necessary).
Because the GPS tracking devices can be placed in such objects as watches and cell phones it's usually not hard to get younger children to wear them because they think these things are cool and it makes them feel older. Actually you wouldn't even need to let your kids know the GPS device is in their new gadget if you don't want to.
Older children are of course a bit more challenging since they value their privacy and don't want you 'tracking' their movements. Of course these teens are the ones that require tracking the most since they are able to range so far away from home. Teens definitely won't appreciate your tracking their movements, but there is a possible compromise you can work out with them.
The compromise is to buy them a car with the understanding that you will be installing a GPS system in the car. That way you can have the peace of mind knowing where they are and how to get in touch with them and they will get the increased independence and freedom that comes with having a car. For sure they may still not like it, but I'll bet they take you up on it since having a car is such a huge step towards independence for most teens.
The ability to keep your kids safe is the number one priority for most parents and when we fail here it can lead to many unwanted consequences. With the affordability and ease of use of GPS tracking for kids there's no reason not to know where your kids are at all times. GPS tracking gives you the wherewithal to keep track of and protect your most valuable possession. Just think of the peace of mind you'll have knowing where your kids are and knowing that if they have an emergency you can get help to them so quickly.

Does G.P.S. Help Save the Planet?
Isn’t it odd that, in all the billions of words that have been written about car G.P.S. systems and about the environment, nobody ever talks about how the former can help the latter?
Every time I use G.P.S. to guide me somewhere in the car, I think to myself, “Man, think how much more driving I’d be doing, guzzling gas and spewing emissions, if I didn’t have this thing telling me how to get there.”
Yeah, I know that G.P.S. doesn’t always give you what a local would consider the most direct route. But on balance, it beats driving around in circles, going several exits out of your way, repeatedly stopping to ask directions and so on. I don’t know why using G.P.S. isn’t part of the standard eco-advice, like replacing your light bulbs with compact fluorescents or keeping your tires properly inflated.

How To Choose The Best GPS Systems
So you've been trying to find a new way to navigate through the world and you heard about these devices that can create accurate maps and even give you navigational instructions to and from locations right from your car. These systems definitely do exist and are called GPS (global positioning) systems. But of course, before you go out and snatch the first one that you see, you need to learn about these clever little devices to determine which one would be best for you. So in this article, we will do the work for you to help you choose the best GPS systems on the market.
Learning About GPS Systems
If you're still unfamiliar with these systems, let's take a look back at the movie Enemy of the State. If you remember, there was a scene in the movie where the character played by Will Smith was being tracked by a device his enemies had placed in a bag that he grabbed. By keeping this device with him unknowingly, he allowed the chasers to keep track of his every move on a screen they were watching from another location. At the time, the device seemed very high tech and new age, but now many people take advantage of them in their own homes and cars.
Modern day systems are capable of working in a very similar way as the device in the movie. You can plant a tracking device in your vehicle that allows you to know every move your car makes if your child drives it - or if it is stolen - by watching its activity from a screen in your house, or even on the Internet from anywhere in the world. In addition, these systems can give you driving instructions via a satellite map to a new restaurant in your area, or give you voice-navigation instructions to a restaurant in a new city. However, you have to decide which are among the best GPS systems, not just from reputation on the market, but also according to what will work best for your family. So let's help you decide what you want.
Decide What You're Looking For
Some of the decision-making process falls in the laps of the companies selling you their product. But I believe firmly that one way to help you determine which are the best GPS systems on the market is to decide which ones are best for you - and you make this decision by choosing the features you most need.
There are four main categories of systems out there to choose from, however most companies combine at least two or more features into one device for versatility. To clearly learn about the differences though, we'll view them separately.
Mapping - There are tons of mapping devices that fall under the category of best GPS systems. This is because more people are usually interested in mapping features, which means companies work harder to make sure this feature is especially accurate and reliable. However, do understand that there is a difference between a device with mapping features and a mapping system. The mapping system is different because it is used to collect data for field work such as farming, timbering, and wetlands/marsh work. Instead, you may want to pursue a system with a mapping feature for directions only, because you could find you've bought a device with a lot of "stuff" you just don't need.
Surveying - Surveying devices can be similar to those for mapping in that they can be pretty complex beasts for the everyday person simply trying to accomplish a few minor tasks. Models that focus primarily on this feature are also used more so for professional surveyors in the field who are looking to collect data on property and land. While you can find these devices among the others available, for everyday navigational purposes, these would probably be too advanced for your needs.
Tracking - These systems can come in the more professional version, but many everyday people are finding them to come in handy when they want to keep track of their children, and keep criminals away. These models can come in a variety of forms ranging from a small device put in a car to track its whereabouts at all times, to a cell phone or watch you can give to your child that can be viewed from a remote location.
Navigating - Many people would say the best GPS systems come as standard navigating devices because they are used to help them navigate through unfamiliar territories with simple and convenient voice turn-by-turn instructions. Of course, as mentioned with the above options, you are likely to have more than one feature in one, but the main idea is to make sure you are getting the features you want - and not a lot of unusable features - for your money.
Now What Do I Choose?
Now that you've learned about the differences between the systems, let's look at a few brands with great reputations for being simple to use with a lot of great features:
Garmin - If price is an issue to you, you may want to turn away from this often expensive, yet always reliable company with a reputation for selling the best GPS systems in the world. Most of their products range from $350 - $750, but you'll always get plenty for your money, including wide screens, long battery life (if portable), extensive mapping and directory options, accurate navigation, and even MP3 and Bluetooth features.
Magellan - Another company known for selling some of the best GPS systems on the market, Magellan offers a wide variety of products for mapping directions and accurate navigational instruction.
TomTom - This company ranks fairly high as well for its features and offers standard options as well as a Map Sharing tool that gives very accurate and up-to-date information on roads around the country.
Learning which companies offer the best GPS systems in the industry takes time and effort on your part. Of course, this means you'll need to continue your research beyond the Internet and visit stores with representatives who can show you in person what each one offers. But after doing your research, and determining what you want in a system, you'll be sure to find one of the best GPS systems on the market that best suits your needs.

What Makes Up the Best GPS?
Is there such a thing as the best gps? All buyers would like to have only the best. Then again the term can be a little too general. What exactly makes a gps unit the best? If you base the answer only on the opinion of users, you will never arrive at one common general answer. Find out what's best for you on your own. Here's how.
Find Out What's Out There
The first real step to find the best gps unit is to research. You'll never really know what the best is until you know what current gps devices carry. All you have to do is to use a typical search engine. You'll find a lot of product pages with product details that you can look into.
What your search will yield can be a bit surprising. Although gps devices are primarily meant to assist in navigation, different models now also carry an outstanding array of features. Yo can have a gps device with voice navigation, international maps, media players, waterproof shield, heavy duty batteries and locators. Every year, more and more units are coming out with even more features.
Look for What You Need
Full featured gps devices can cost as much as $2000. If you are on a tight budget though, you will definitely not be able to afford such an expense. A gps unit that will bleed your pockets dry is definitely not the best for you. The best way to find a unit that is truly the best for you in terms of budget is to list down what you truly need from a gps device. For a lot of people the best unit is simply that which can provide the right directions. A good cheap model will only cost you $200.
Look for What You Want
You can afford to be choosier if you do not have a budget to keep. If you can afford expensive devices, then the best gps for you might be the one that carries every feature you can ever imagine. Those who have a little extra to spare would typically opt for units that have entertainment features.
Ease of Use
Users will always disagree when it comes to gps features. Some will prefer a particular model only because it has this or that feature. Nearly everyone agrees though that the best devices are those that aren't difficult to use. A gps device should be user friendly regardless of its price or number of features.
Ease of use can partly be determined by your circumstances. If you have a hard time reading and understanding technology then a hand held unit may not be for you. You may have to go for a wide touch screen unit with voice instructions.
Find Out From Others
Another way to find the best is to ask. You can ask fellow users or computer experts to help you out. In this modern age, this is easier than you think. Forums, message boards and review sites have all the advice you will need to pick the best gps device.
In the end the best gps is really what serves you best. You can only pick what is best for you if you carefully look into your needs and budget.

Cell Phone GPS Tracking - Is it Possible?
The modern world has a lot to offer and one is cell phone GPS tracking. Is that really possible?
Maybe you're wondering if a cell phone truly has a GPS feature. That is possible nowadays, thanks to the advanced technology of our times. Mobile communications is far more advanced today because of the GPS. Orbiting satellites in outer space can provide you with the information you need by transmitting the data to your cell phones.
If you're lost or if someone close to you is lost, you can make use of the cell phone GPS tracking system. Business people can benefit from this cell phone feature because they can now track all their business matters. The cell phone is not merely for contacting business associates and loved ones but now it can be used as a navigation tool.
Licensed companies will provide you with the information you need and you can also access detailed records for certain requests. You can also have the option to slip away from the service by selecting the 'hide' icon on your cell phone.
However, there are certain hot issues today in using a cell phone GPS tracking. Some people say that their right to privacy is being invaded.
So be sure to do business with a licensed GPS company provider so that you will know that you're safe and protected at the same time.
Issues should not get in the way if you want to get a cell phone GPS tracking service. It might be an additional cost on your part but the benefits are great.
Keeping Track of Your Kids With GPS
One great benefit of technology has been global positioning systems or GPS. These systems use satellites to track the whereabouts of people anywhere on planet Earth. They are small units that can be installed many places such as watches, backpacks, cars and even cell phones. Because GPS units are so small they can be used very effectively to as GPS kids tracking devices.
Parents use GPS tracking to keep tabs on the location of their children. Children can be tracked with GPS using their cell phones, watches, backpacks and even attached to their clothing or shoes. No matter where a child is they can be located with a GPS device. Children's GPS devices are like an insurance policy to help keep your kids safe.
Currently there are a number of satellites orbiting the Earth that were placed by the U.S. Department of Defense. GPS tracking technology makes use of these satellites for both navigation and tracking purposes. The satellites send out an encoded signal that are received by the tracking units and then decoded. The satellites are always sending this signal and the GPS devices can use this signal to locate anything or anyone and their exact position on the Earth within several yards.
GPS tracking services can be purchased from several different companies. Tracking children with GPS is very simple to get started with. All you need to do is purchase a GPS tracking device, have it programmed for your service and attach it to the child in some way. Each GPS tracking company does charge a fee for their service and it varies for each one so do some research first to find out which company can provide the features you want at the lowest cost.
You can subscribe to different tracking plans from several trackings per month to unlimited real time tracking. The only difference between the different plans is the cost with the unlimited and real time versions being the most expensive.
There are also several ways to retrieve your tracking information. Some companies will provide the information via cell phone while others have websites that you can go to to do the tracking or even software that needs to be installed on your PC. In addition, you can receive tracking reports to get all the details of where your child has been. This can be a good addition for teens who are driving.
The biggest negative to tracking kids with GPS is the cost. The GPS devices start around $150 each and the tracking services will run you anywhere from $25 to $100 per month depending on the features you desire.
Children's GPS tracking systems are a great way to give you added peace of mind knowing that your children can be located at anytime and anywhere they might be. While older children may have some reservations at being tracked, younger children often do not even need to know about the tracking device. GPS kids tracking is not a substitute for parental supervision, but it is a great tool to help us keep tabs on our children and provided added security in our dangerous world.
